You can send thank you notes by email, you can send thank you notes by snail mail, and you can even send the thank you note by carrier pigeon, as long as the thank you notes get to their destination. In this day and age, thank you notes are often sent by email and that's perfectly fine. If you have beautiful handwriting or this was a particularly important interview to you, you might want to take the time to actually hand write a thank you note. But if you are like me and you have terrible handwriting, you might actually want to type a thank you note rather than handwriting it. The important thing is to make sure that a message goes telling them that I appreciated the opportunity to interview with you and you are iterating your interest in the job. So regardless of the format, make sure it does.
